The Cloister of St. Francis is what remains of the convent of San Francesco al Mercatale demolished in the early 20th century. Of the original cloister, there are traces of the cycle of frescoes of Franciscan subjects that decorated its four sides. On the right stands the ancient bell tower of the convent.
In the central Piazza della Libertà, on the site of the Church of San Francesco al Mercatale, demolished in the early 20th century, stands the Cloister of San Francesco. In a single body with the ancient monastic complex, it has a 15th-century layout, although it was extensively remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries.
